Unique Family Photography: Why I Do What I Do

I had one of those moments with my eldest yesterday. He is one of the most sweet and kindest boys but at school can put on a bit of bravado, be a little bit cheeky and of course he wants to be the coolest kid in town! Which 8 year old boy doesn’t!?!

It was his bedtime and I was tucking him in as I always do, (I love tucking my boys in, they actually find it funny that I won’t leave the room until I have pulled the covers up around their little chins and ‘tucked them in’ even though I then turn my back and they’ve usually sat back up and grabbed a book).

Anyway as I was saying, I was ‘tucking him in’ and saying our goodnights and he said to me, “Mummy, my teacher said today that you were an amazing photographer”, and to this I had a moment of pride and thought to myself how lovely that was of his teacher to comment. Little did I know that there was more to the story. My not so little boy then went on to whisper into my ear, “I didn’t think that was good enough, I think you’re a pro!”

That moment, that little acknowledgement from my son that he thinks I’m a pro at my job made me so happy and it’s a moment that I will never forget. I looked at him and his little face and squeezed him tightly and thanked him. That moment was so special to me and I am so grateful that he shared that with me. He’s such a beautiful soul.

This is why I love what I do. I teach our boys to follow their dreams, be kind and be happy. I am so lucky to have found a hobby, a passion and be on my journey to forging a career and business doing something that I love. I want my children to grow up and learn that it isn’t about how much money you earn but life is about doing something that you love and having the drive and passion to keep on trying, never give up and enjoy the rollercoaster ride. The acknowledgment from my son that he believes in me meant the absolute world to me.

I am so proud of the little man he is growing up to be.

So follow your dreams everyone, be happy and remember the most important people in your life are those that love you for who you are, support you and believe in you.
